What's new

• Fixed a mobile layout bug on Settings. Some screens showed the Appearance and Notifications sections cut off on the right. Fixed.
• "What's new" groups same-day updates into one card, instead of repeating the date down the page.
• Mobile menu: tapping your name or avatar at the top now opens your profile directly.

• Registering a book now offers its real category, when Google Books has one. Instead of being forced to pick one of the fixed genres for a book that doesn't fit any of them, the "Other" option shows the book's own category (e.g. "Juvenile Fiction") so you can just pick that.

• Mark a book Lost, or Lost & bought other. From your book's page, alongside Reading/Read/TBR/DNF. Either one takes it off your listings — change the status to relist it.
• Install SwapBooks to your home screen. Signed-in users on supported browsers now get a one-time prompt to install the app, dismissible for two weeks.

• Share the quote of the day. From the dashboard, share today's quote as an image — sized for a WhatsApp or Instagram story.
• "Other" category. Registering or editing a book's categories now offers "Other" alongside the existing genres.
• New listings default to Lend. Listing a book now starts on Lend instead of Swap — change it before submitting if you'd rather swap or sell.

• Mark a book Reading, Read, To be read, or Did not finish. From your book's page, set your own reading status — private to you. Marking it "To be read" also adds it to your TBR list on your profile; moving off that status removes it again.

• Quote share now links back to SwapBooks. Sharing the quote of the day to WhatsApp Status includes a tappable link back to the site in the caption.
• Tidier search results. Long book descriptions in the search dropdown are now clipped to one line instead of stretching the list.

• Keep a TBR list. On your own profile page, add books you've heard about but don't own yet, with a quick note on what you heard. Search your TBR by title, author, or note. It's private — only you ever see it.

• Launch screen now matches your theme. Installed as an app, SwapBooks used to show a white launch screen even in dark mode. It now follows your Light/Dark choice from Settings.

• "Most swapped books" only shows books you can get. The home rail used to include titles with nothing currently listed, so tapping one dropped you on an empty results list. It now skips those, and tapping a book jumps straight to the matching listings.
• "What's new" is paginated. This page now shows the five latest updates, with numbered page controls for the rest.

A big batch this time.

• Pass a borrowed book along. If you're borrowing a book and someone else wants it next, you can hand it straight to them from My books → Books I'm borrowing without returning it first. The owner approves the hand-off, then the next borrower accepts — the loan just moves across.
• Returns are confirmed by the owner. Marking a borrowed book "returned" now sends the owner a request; the loan stays open until they confirm they've got it back. Owners can still close a loan themselves from the book's row.
• Dark mode. Settings → Appearance has a Light / Dark / System switch. System follows your device, and the page eases between the two instead of snapping.
• Notification credits. Everyone gets 10 free credits a month for WhatsApp notifications (0.25 each, so 40 messages), shown in Settings → Notification credits with the refill date. Verification codes are always sent and don't use credits. Out of credits? Request a top-up from there (you'll need a verified phone) and an admin follows up.
• Browse is the home page. Signing in now lands on the book browse, with your greeting and the "recently listed" / "most swapped" shelves on top. Your own library is under My books — old /dashboard links still work.
• Filter and page transfer requests. The transfer-requests page shows the 5 most recent per list and has a From / To date filter.
• "Deferred" on the feature board. Requests that are a good idea but parked can now be marked *Deferred*, separate from *Declined*.
